Friday 13th can be unlucky for some, but not those at Fashion week, when it kicked off in spectacular style with Bora Aksu. We think the designer did a good job at incorporating his Turkish roots into the design of his collection, with bright and patterned materials.
Topshop was one fashion brand that stood out this fashion week – not just because their ‘frow’ consisted of Anna Wintour, Kate Moss, Ellie Goulding and many more – but because their collection was beautifully crafted using silks and suede materials, whilst maintaining a girly and feminine feel, and – of course – having Cara and Jordan model the clothes may have helped on the fashion stakes too!
We were excited to see Yulia Kondranina’s collection, which also won the prestigious Fashion Scout Merit award. The collection started with clean white clothes then gradually moved onto blacks, navys, burgundys and greys with Aztec prints, the majority of the line welcomed crocheted dresses with peek-a-boo cuts and sheer panels with weaving and braiding – all very exciting for spring/summer next year.
Turkish designer Gul Agis and his SS14 line Lug Von Siga, had a tribal feel to it, with lots of monochrome and embellishment. The clothes were on trend yet sleek, with fitted bodycon mini skirts and layers of fringing. Agis also designed some of the dresses with textured gold and bronze patterns, helping to maintain that edgy feel. All of the looks were twinned with monochrome ankle strap heeled sandals which has been a massive trend over the last year, and looks set to continue through the coming seasons…
Pam Hogg – all at BassBuds were excited to see what Pam Hogg had in store, especially as her AW13 show saw dancers from the English National Ballet wearing PVC and sheer mesh clothing – we knew this one would be a talking point for all fashion followers! And we weren’t disappointed, she used her signature latex body suits with veils and pleats, and following a trend from her AW13 show she again incorporated the ballet dancers. I don’t think we can wait until next year when the clothes will be available to buy….
